How to get help online with Self Assessment. Use the HMRC digital assistant, community forums and social media, get email updates and use our online tools.

There’s a wide range of online information and tools available to help you get the answers and information you need for your Self Assessment tax return and payments.

Using HMRC’s online services are usually much quicker, easier and cheaper than calling us.

Use your HMRC online account to sign in to your Personal Tax Account to check your records and manage your details.

You’ll need your Government Gateway user ID and password to sign in. If you do not have a user ID, you’ll be able to create one when you sign in for the first time.
